Personality

First impression: Comes off as spacey, dreamy, and a bit crazy. Blissfully unaware and uncomprehending of society's conventions and taboos.
Behaviors/Traits: Though often
appearing dreamy and out-of-touch with the world, Luna
is in fact very aware of what's going on around her,
and often notices things others miss because of her
unconventional perceptions. She is very open to new
ideas and experiences, and, though not what is
generally considered "social," likes to have fun with
her friends. Luna can be shockingly blunt at times,
because she states the truth with little regard for
propriety or even taboo, both of which are mostly
meaningless concepts to her. She's generally fairly
unfazed by what people think of her, and follows her
own rules. She's a caring person, and nurturing. She
also likes to give strays a home, be they people,
creatures, or objects.

History: Luna grew up near
Ottery St. Catchpole, the only child of the family and
somewhat doted on by her father, editor of the
Quibbler, who delighted in teaching Luna about
outlandish magical creatures and goings-on. Luna's
mother was somewhat more distant, usually busy
experimenting with new spells. Though brilliant,
Luna's mother was killed in a bad magical accident
when one of her spells went awry, and it was
witnessing this event that causes Luna to see
thestrals. After that, she became somewhat more
withdrawn, and had never had many close friends to
begin with. Rather, Luna spent her time with her
father, drinking in his tales, perhaps because she
needed something to believe, and the two became even
closer as they dealt with their loss. Luna, despite
her roundabout way of viewing the world and apparent
dreaminess, is a very smart girl, and quite logical–
her logic just isn't quite the same as that of mot
people. It was this, along with her natural curiosity,
that got her sorted into Ravenclaw at school. Luna
excelled in Charms, Defense, and Divination in
particular. Upon finishing school, she took over The
Quibbler so her father could retire, and has been
happily running it ever since.
